Just Another Reason to Love Zac Posen…

February 9, 2012 Posted by fashionvandals

Zac Posten  knows a thing or two about vampin it up. His silhouettes are always classy and feminine, with the perfect touch of seduction.

With the Z Spoke by Zac Posen Fall RTW collection, this is one of the few times when I favor clean lines and subtlety over loud, gaudy designs. These figure-hugging pieces enhance and complement, rather than overshadow, and I’m totally in love. (more…)

3 Things to Look Out for In 2012

December 30, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

You may fault me for this, but I’m going to resist the urge to have a “Best of 2011″ top 10 list, and I swear it has nothing to do with laziness. Rather than rehashing the past (I mean, c’mon, haven’t you been paying attention?), why not look ahead and focus on things to inspire you in the new year?

There are three things I want to bring to light that you should look out for in 2012. First up, jewelry by A is for Arsenic. (more…)

Rooney Mara x Lisbeth Salander

December 29, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

If you know me personally, you may have heard me talking some smack on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo before giving it a chance. Without doing my research, I expected a cliched portrayal of a tortured “rebel,” but the film presented something with far more depth than I anticipated.

Prepare Yourself–Autumnlin’s Design Apocalypse is Fast Approaching…

November 28, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

If you saw my coverage of Philly Fashion Week, then you no doubt saw me raving about the designer, Autumnlin. I was instantly drawn to her complex pieces that combined both sophistication and deconstruction. I thought to myself, this lady is North America’s answer to h. Naoto (little did I know she’d list him as one of the fellow designers she admires). I recently spoke to Autumnlin, about her style, vision, and studying abroad–besides studying in Philly and NY, she spent time in Florence and Paris–and got to take a closer look at more of her inspiring creations…

Spaceship Lolita

November 15, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

I want to continue where I left off with the last post, and fawn over some more wonderfully over-the-top designs.  The designs by Spaceship Lolita are a mix of pop, glam, with just a bit of darkness thrown in.

Skingraft is an LA design house that started out making fashion inspired by performance art. Even though they now make ready-to-wear pieces, they certainly haven’t lost their edge.

Hello Dear, You’re Looking Exceptionally Witchy Today

June 28, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

This past week I unexpectedly acquired some new fashion inspiration via the Colbert Report… I don’t know if any of you guys got the check out the wonderously gloomy band, The Black Belles, backing up Stephen Colbert as he premiered his absurd musical collaboration with Jack White, “Charlene II (I’m Over You)”.

As was to be expected, the girls took backstage to Colbert’s antics, but they left a lasting impression with me…leaving me pining for black velvet and hooded cloaks, and in search of other classy revamps of the iconinc pointed hat.

The Queen Bee/The Bee Queen

June 1, 2011 Posted by rissvandal

Now that I’ve got a new space, I figured it’s time to mix things up a bit. Every so often I’ll be posting an outfit or makeup look. And to start things off, I figured why not go bright, loud, and find a way to make black lipstick work in the sunlight…

Plastic Halloween ring, painted, glazed, and bedazzled
