Shall We Play Catch Up?

February 27, 2012 Posted by fashionvandals

I haven’t shown my face on the blog for a while, but I’m anxiously waiting for an opportunity to get back in front of a camera, so I can review all the new cosmetics I’ve received (including Lime Crime’s Carousel lip glosses, wooh!) and show off this glorious item that I just received in the mail:

The reason I’ve been hiding out lately is because my body lashed out at me–leaving me with a wonderfully large and noticeable rash on my face that I’m still waiting to clear up. But as I continue to hide out for another week or so, I figured I’d mention a bit about what I’ve been up to.

Rooney Mara x Lisbeth Salander

December 29, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

If you know me personally, you may have heard me talking some smack on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo before giving it a chance. Without doing my research, I expected a cliched portrayal of a tortured “rebel,” but the film presented something with far more depth than I anticipated.

New Haircut and Making Peace with Mullet Mishaps

November 18, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

So I just got my haircut, something I used to do without a second thought until the infamous MULLET incident. After that, I had to cut my hair immensely short and I then promised to never get a haircut again for as long as I lived. But promises are meant to be broken (isn’t that how it goes?) so I went ahead and decided on a change, albeit, a sort of subtle one.

Frazetta’s Fantasy Costumes…It Feels Like Home…

October 5, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

Let’s go from couture to campy for just a moment here, while I briefly reminisce and get psyched for Halloween season. From time to time I visit my parents in the Poconos…and at least once a year I try to make a stop at Frazetta’s Fantasy Costumes. (more…)

Time to Find Out Where All The Real Cool Kids Have Been Hiding…

June 15, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

I just found out about an awesome project via La Carmina’s blog, and I felt the need to pass the word along. Photographer Danielle Levitt is currently scouring the country for alt-kids (goths, punks, scenesters, jrockers, etc) to photograph and interview for a project focusing on youth subcultures.

Any young people on the fringe of the mainstream can be considered for the project, no matter where your location. So if this sounds at all like something you might want to be a part of–celebrating your subculture and personal style–be sure to check out all of the details here. Danielle’s work is great, and I’m actually really excited about this.

Strange Days Jewelry and Fashion Vandals feature

April 23, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

So, Strange Days Jewelry and Fashion Vandals were just featured in the entertainment mag, The Weekender, this past Wednesday. The pics looked good and nothing was taken out of context, so I was pretty happy (although my brother wasn’t credited as the photographer…grr…). You can check it out, here. Most importantly, in the article you get a sneak peak of the new jewelry I’ll be selling in about a week or so.  Lots of chain and connector rings is what I’m all about lately., anyone?

Any of you lovely folks have a account? I just signed up, so if you do, you should get at me [].

Weekends are for skulls and studs

April 3, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

Despite the fact that I’m making it look that way, I actually do not spend every weekend adorning everything I own with skulls. I did, however, finished off my productive semi-productive weekend with a newly adorned biker jacket thanks to this back patch gifted from Dark Days.

And I took a break from creating connector rings and put together a bunch of incredibly long earrings…which I’d have a better picture of if I didn’t have such a godawful camera and webcam. I just moved and no longer live my my photographer brother, so guess it’s time to buy my own camera…

Become a Femme Fatale with Veronica Varlow

March 31, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

I’m sure you’ve all noticed that when there’s something I like, I’ll promote the hell out of it. Well, Veronica Varlow is currently offering a handful of classes—both in-person and online webinars—and I can not stress enough have damn awesome they are.

Just a few weeks ago I attended Veronica’s webinar that was about channelling your inner femme fatale, increasing your self-confidence, and how to really “own” a room. She also threw in some personal stories, makeup tips, and magic (literally). Now, just a few weeks later, I’ve purchased yet another webinar session. For any aspiring models or performers, or ladies who just need a boost of self-confidence, the classes are not only interesting, but incredibly empowering and inspiring.

So, I just wanted to let ya’ll know. You can check out the webinar here and her comparable, in-person class here. If by any chance anyone decides to take part in the webinar, lemme know. Everyone interacts during the class and it’d be nice to say hi.
