The World of Studio Ghibli Arrives in Seoul

For fans of anime and animated films in general, those words should bring some very distinctive images to mind. Scenes of magic, warmth, and unparalleled beauty and depth. Studio Ghibli–the studio behind memorable films such as Spirited Away, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and My Neighbor Totoro–makes the kind of films that captivate and leave viewers in awe. These are the kind of films you wish you could step inside and experience again and again. Luckily, those in Seoul get to do just that.

During my recent trip to Japan, I took a trip to the official Studio Ghibli museum in Mitaka. And while the experience was a lovely and emotional one, it was not nearly as immersive and squeal-inducing as this temporary exhibit.

The Fashion Elite of Anime and Manga

My nerd interests are almost as big a part of my life as fashion is, so every once in a while I try to make the two worlds collide. I was perusing pics of characters from the manga Paradise Kiss–a series about young, aspiring fashion designers–when I got the idea that it might be fun to compile a list of the most stylish characters is anime and manga.

The idea was simple, but completing the task was somewhat more difficult than I expected. Keep in mind, this is not a list of the coolest looking characters, so no matter how badass a character’s appearance, if they live in the same uniform all series, they’re not in the running. And granted, this is a short list and far from complete, but hey, consider it a start. (more…)
