First thing’s first, two things need to be said about this new photo set:
After all this time, this was my first outfit photo set featuring a lady (other than myself, duh). Yeah, I know. There was no reason behind it, it just worked out that way. But I realize 80% of the clothing I focus on is women’s clothing, yet 80% of the photos I take are of dudes, so I was wondering how long it would take before somebody called me out of that…
My model, Zue Byrd, had a clothing collection that gave me a bit of wardrobe envy. With the sea of spikes, skulls, and printed leggings it was like walking into a mini Trash and Vaudeville shop.
The wolf leggings are from GoJane, and if you’ve never been to that site, go now. You’ll find a nice selection of badass prints like these, and then you’ll also find a selection of absolutely crazy clown shit. I’m not even going to explain what I mean by that, just go take a look yourself.
I’ve come across a lot of great finds lately, though not all of them warrant their own post, so today I thought I’d mention a few of the odds and ends I’ve been psyched about and dying to share. I’m thinking this should be a recurring feature–sharing not just my favorite fashion and beauty finds, but anything else that’s made an impression, including from housewares, websites, and maybe even the occasional dose of nerdness.
Bad Kitty Rider Jacket by UNIF Clothing / Badtz Maru Skirt by Japan L.A.
Studded outerwear and biker jackets are basically a wardrobe staple at this point, and are becoming kind of tired, so I’m glad to see that UNIF continues to add variety and innovation to the trend. They have a lot of great designs–studded army jackets, spiked fur coats, but their Bad Kitty jacket is my top pick. As for the Badtz Maru overall skirt…would I wear it? That I’m not so sure about, but I love it. And while a lot of people roll their eyes at grown women rocking Sanrio, why give up something you love just because of age? And if that thing you love just happens to come in the form of a badass miniskirt, even better.
A brand I’m currently obsessing over is UNIF–trashy, grungy, totally punk rock, but featuring an amazing variety that spans from torn up tees and bondage miniskirts to ethereal LBds and glam velvet robes. But the one gripe I have is that, based on their lookbooks, you can barely decipher what they have to offer.
Alright, now let’s enter the realm of all things impractical (not like that’s anything new, eh?) and take a look at the super blingin, ultra luxe headgear by Deryck Todd. I actually found them opulently hideous at first glance, but after finding this beautiful Vogue Italia editorial, I began to see their charm (when placed atop pretty lady’s head, at least).
I love Dsquared2’s Spring/Summer 2012 Menswear collection for a lot of reasons, but the main reason can be summed up in two words: Tiger sleeves. Yes, I said tiger sleeves.
I would love to get a hold of something from Kevork Kiledjian’s Fall/Winter 2011-12 Collection. First off, are those sheer leopard pants? Whether they are or not, hell yes.
