Welcome to Creepsville

May 8, 2013 Posted by rissvandal

First off, my suggestion is that you Youtube “Blood in My Eyes” by Calabrese while looking over this post, because it’s the perfect complement to these images of a should-be horror punk frontman.

The pep talk before the shoot went like this: “You’re an undead rockabilly ghoul…go creep around the cemetery like it’s your home.” And then I’m pretty sure the words “look evil, and like you think you’re cooler than everyone” came out of my mouth as well.

Chaos and Solitude

April 4, 2013 Posted by rissvandal

We ditched the usual guyliner and undead, drug-addled vampire look, if only just this once. It was time. Even though my fashion interests span across the board, people usually refer to this as a goth blog (and I’ve made peace with it), so that’s a clear indication that I haven’t been giving other styles enough love. It was about time to get some punk/greaser style up in here.

My model, Mike Kwolek, brought a sleek wardrobe to the table, with a couple pieces I admitted I wanted to steal for myself (the creepers, definitely the creepers).

YRU’s Sky-High Perfection

January 13, 2013 Posted by rissvandal

YRU–“created to create; inspired to inspire; liberated to liberate”–or in other words, badass, innovative designs, and my new favorite shoe brand to lust over.

YRU has a punk rock edge with high-end polish, and their platforms hit me with a dose of Spice Girl-era nostalgia. My fave from the collection is this pink and black leopard beauty, but more in theory than application–I’m a total chicken when it comes to shoe heights.

I’ll Give You Something to Bitch About

May 24, 2012 Posted by rissvandal

If I could only shop at one online store for the rest of my life, I’m pretty sure I’d be content limiting myself to Bitching & Junkfood. The shop features a collection of vintage, revamped, and designer pieces, and while the selection is not always extensive, it’s always bold and edgy, with a touch of sophistication–think delicate sheer dresses paired with shimmering silver creepers and black lipstick.

My Mother–She’s More Punk Rock Than She Knows

May 15, 2012 Posted by fashionvandals

I of course realize that Mother’s Day has passed, but really, is it ever too late to write a post about mom? I think not.

“Aww, you should have worn your cat ears today! They would have made a great conversation piece,” my mother said to me while we were getting ready to meet up with the rest of our family for a Mother’s Day party. I couldn’t help but smile at the unexpected remark–it shows how far my mother and I have come since the teen year arguments about torn fishnets, combat boots, and my excessively gloomy style.

Skulls, Sheer, and Bunny Ears–Daniel Palillo Goes Bold with Menswear

January 16, 2012 Posted by fashionvandals

This right here is the kind of menswear I want to see. Kudos to Dan Palillo for his Spring 2012 collection, “Never Mind”, and all his collections prior.

Always Creepin’ Around

October 5, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

I acknowledged long ago that Creeper’s aren’t the most flattering shoes for females, yet the punk rock kid in me is forever drawn to them. The obvious go-to is T.U.K, but I wanted to branch out a bit and I found a lovely selection of Creepers, as well as Winklepickers (I love that word), from Underground, based in the U.K.
