Show A Little Leg

July 24, 2012 Posted by rissvandal

I think my search for the perfect badass leg accessory has finally come to an end, thanks to this affordable custom-made beauty by Noctex. I’d been looking for something that I could wear entirely visible with a  skirt or shorts, without veering too much into I-look-like-I’m-wearing-lingerie-and-trying-way-too-hard territory, and I think I’ve finally settled on the piece below.

Of Black Cats, Spikes, and Siouxsie Sioux

Last week a friend of mine asked how I first became interested in punk and goth subcultures. It’s hard to pinpoint something like that, but I told her it was the experience of my first punk show–sloppy guitar riffs and confrontational tri-hawk girls left me forever changed. But shortly after, I realized I think I was converted far before that. I was maybe ten years old when I first heard “Ornaments of Gold” by Siouxsie and the Banshees, and I suspect that might have been the moment I fell in love with the dark side.

That being said, when I put together my latest look, I had Banshees’ lead singer, Siouxsie Sioux, in the forefront of my mind.

I’ll Give You Something to Bitch About

If I could only shop at one online store for the rest of my life, I’m pretty sure I’d be content limiting myself to Bitching & Junkfood. The shop features a collection of vintage, revamped, and designer pieces, and while the selection is not always extensive, it’s always bold and edgy, with a touch of sophistication–think delicate sheer dresses paired with shimmering silver creepers and black lipstick.

Love at First Blush

Sometimes people argue with me that some of the things I post about and deem “sexy” are actually pretty far from it (okay, so high-wasited panties aren’t for everyone, I get it). But do you think we can all agree on these pieces by Love At First Blush?

Hopeless Lingerie

I’m in love with the simplicity of Hopeless Lingerie. Everything at Victoria’s Secret and department stores is so over-the-top and tacky. Hopeless’ delicate fabrics, mesh panels, and well-placed straps totally beat out sheer teddies and bright lace push-up bras.  And besides being sexy, the designs also look incredibly comfortable and practical, don’t they?
