So Cute, It’s Creepy

September 3, 2012 Posted by rissvandal

It’s been a while since I’ve hit you with a dose of cuteness. I realized it’s been all skeletons and darkness on here for a while, so my plan was to balance things out with some adorable lolita finds, but then I came across this “NeaPAWlitan Sparkle Collar” by Locketship.

It’s cute alright, but in my opinion, ice cream cones topped with kittie heads also teeter on the verge of creepy. And so I decided to continue in that direction–so cute it’s…kinda creepy. (more…)

Springtime Indulgences

April 10, 2012 Posted by fashionvandals

No matter what the season, I sing the praises of dark colors year-round. But after catching a glimpse of this darling watermelon dress from New York Couture’s Wonderland collection, I went on a springtime kick–seeking out pieces just as bright, fruity, and sugary-sweet.

Meadham Kirchoff SS2012

A lot happened during London Fashion Week, but all of my attention went to Meadham Kirchoff’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection. His kawaii, sugary-sweet designs totally stole the show on Tuesday.

Sugar’s Tea Room: Always Coordinate Your Outfit With Your Tea Sandwiches

August 16, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

This past weekend my friends and I took a trip to Sugar’s Tea Room and Gift Shoppe, a lovely place brimming with Victoriana, cheery ladies in fancy hats, and food almost too pretty to eat. In other words, I never wanted to leave.

Sugar’s is a color-coordinated land of treasures, and my friends and I were seated in The Gold Room (there are six other rooms to choose from).

With around 100 different types of teas, the menu can be a little daunting for first-timers. But once you pass the initial hurdle of decision-making, the fun begins. “As soon as you place you’re order,  feel free to wear any of the hats on the racks placed around the room.” (more…)

Model of the Week: Cake Injection

August 15, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

I first noticed Cake Injection because of her name–goes without saying it draws some attention. And while I certainly appreciated the large amount of sweet lolita-esque images in her portfolio, I realized my blog is rather heavy with that sort of imagery, so I was still looking for something to set her apart.

As I took a look at her portfolio and her “About Me,” which is the section where I often hope will be filled with a model’s inspirations and personal philosophy (but is unfortunately often filled with body stats and lists of tattoos), she had this to say:

“I do this because I love to become a new character and jump in their skin for an amazing unique shot…My portfolio is the world I’m lost in.” (more…)

As Teatime Approaches…

August 10, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

Two of my girlfriends are coming to town for a tea party in just a few days, and one of them messaged me today asking for visual inpsiration to help her choose her outfit. We all agreed that the event calls for dramatic outfits, but since we have such drastically different styles–a gaudy punk, a dark metal chick, and a vintage queen–I think “dramatic” means something very different to each one of us…

It’s Like the Wonka Factory, but for Rainbow Scene Chicks

When I stumbled upon It’s Sugar, a new store that just opened in Baltimore, Maryland, I wasn’t really sure what it was. And even after stepping foot inside, to tell you the truth, I still wasn’t exactly sure.

The store is 1/3 reasonable candy store, 1/3 totally unreasonable diabetes-inducing candy porn, and 1/3 ridiculous fashion playground. So of course, I fell in love.
