Andrej Pejic, You Are One Elegant Man

June 30, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

The other day my friend sent me this article in Fader about MadeMe Clothing’s gender-bending Fall 2011 lookbook, in which male model, Andrej Pejic, sports all of the female clothing. I will say, MadeMe has some pretty nice threads, but I was pretty much entirely fixated on Andrej, a man I consider the picture-perfect portrait of effortless androgyny.

Model of the Week: Chloe Von Creepy

June 6, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

Chloe Von Creepy has me intrigued. How could she not when under her occupation description she writes, “I work in the porn industry, but I dont act in the movies (no nudies here!).” What exactly does Miss Creepy do? I have yet to find that out.

Meet Inked and Up-and-Coming Model, Dani B.

May 31, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

Meet Dani Bathory: alternative model, writer, music composer, and hip hop artist. You might know Dani from her previous work with the death metal band, The Funeral Pyre, or else maybe you saw her recently featured on MTV’s Fine Ink series, or as Inked Magazine’s Inked Girl of the Day. While certain aspects of Dani’s career are still in the early stages, a lot of things came together for her this year. She released her first single “Your Favorite Bitch,” became a music columnist for Tattoo Hodge Podge, and you can spot her as the star of this year’s Aggrolite’s video, “Complicated Girl.” And, yknow, she also fits a day job in there somewhere…

FV: You told me that your first modeling gig was only about eight months ago, for Tattoo Hodge Podge. When you started out, was modeling something that came naturally to you, or did it take a while to build up a level of comfort?

DB: It did take a little while to get comfortable in front of the camera because that is when you feel most vulnerable. My coworker at the time had been modeling for years and he told me the most important thing to do was just relax…and all the photographers I worked with kept telling me I was a natural, so that definitely gave me a boost of confidence. Miss Vex Channels the Afterlife

May 19, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

Wanna see a different side of Ulorin Vex? Here she is, participating in a 2011 Zombie Walk. One of the many reasons I continue to love this woman…

Model of the Week: Torie Tastic

May 19, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

Our latest featured model is Torie Tastic. This lady has only around two years of modeling experience under her belt, but already she has a rather diverse portfolio full of awesome cybergoth shots, as well as some work with Sugarkitty Corsets.

This lovely lady juggles modeling and motherhood, which, to me doesn’t sound like an easy feat. Be sure to check out more of Torie, here.

Model of the Week: Lady Amaranth

April 27, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

Lady Amaranth’s look is so old-school traditional goth, and I love it. She’s quite the poster-girl for the subculture, seeing as she’s been featured in publications such as Goths, Gothic Art, and Gothic Magazine, and has modeled for Gothic Tiaras, The Gothic Shop, Drac-in-a-Box, and Dark Elegance Designs, just to name a few.

Sorry if it seems like I’m trying to overload you with the word “goth”…I just want to make sure you understand her exceptionally dark credentials. And I have to add that she’s 30-years-old, and any time I see models beyond the 19-22 age range, I get psyched. You can find out more about Lady Amaranth on her website.

Model of the Week: Steven Lai

April 23, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

Steven Lai is a designer who just happens to model as a hobby. I love his versatility…and how he skirts the line between masculinity and femininity. I’ll add him to my very short list of men that I feel can model alternative fashion without looking like parodies or boys playing dress up on Halloween…

Steven has a Masters in Fashion and Knitwear and Design and he made his collection debut in 2010. Here’s just a quick peek at some of his work, however, you can check out more of his design work here.

Model of the Week: Melodie Gore

April 11, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

Model of the Week: Melodie Gore

Check out Melodie Gore…model and visual artist whose focus is apparently on creating erotic fantasy characters mainly through costume and makeup. She also happens to be a GodsGirl, anime enthusiast (which you can tell in some of the pictures below), and an EMT in Los Angeles. You can check out more photos, and some of her own work on her website.

Model of the Week: Lady Noctis

March 21, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

Model of the Week: Lady Noctis

Lady Noctis is not quite as made up and over-the-top as most of the models I feature here, which is precisely why I chose her this week. She goes light on the make up, and she’s involved in a lot of shoots where her natural self is allowed to shine through, which is somewhat of a rarity in alt-modeling. She’s young and doesn’t have an incredibly extensive list of work experiences, but she’s already graced the pages of Bizarre Mag a handful of times. Not to mention, she’s also a published illustrator. You can find out more about Lady Noctis, here.
