July 3, 2012 Posted by rissvandal

Lime Crime’s really been branching out this year. First pressed shadow palettes, then their first line of liquid liners, and most recently they released a line of delicate pastel nail polishes.

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner…The Muppets!

May 22, 2012 Posted by fashionvandals

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but my life is basically one endless string of themed parties. This past weekend I attended a Muppet dinner party. The Muppets was one of my favorite movies so far this year, so it was only a matter of time.

Ying Edge and the Perfect LBD (Leopard Blue Dress)

November 21, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

I love leopard print and I always have. It’s gaudy, it’s tacky, but it’s been a staple of my wardrobe for years. I’m always looking for new designers who do leopard print justice, and when I saw these Ying Edge designs I actually was giddy.

Bright-Eyed With KN Cosmetics

October 18, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

My latest makeup mission was to find more bright shadows with a matte finish, and to branch off from my usual go-to–Sugarpill Cosmetics–to see if I could find any lesser-known brands that offered impressive results.

It’s Like the Wonka Factory, but for Rainbow Scene Chicks

When I stumbled upon It’s Sugar, a new store that just opened in Baltimore, Maryland, I wasn’t really sure what it was. And even after stepping foot inside, to tell you the truth, I still wasn’t exactly sure.

The store is 1/3 reasonable candy store, 1/3 totally unreasonable diabetes-inducing candy porn, and 1/3 ridiculous fashion playground. So of course, I fell in love.

Welcome to Clown Town

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want you to think for one second that I don’t absolutely love everything pictured here. But at the same time, I’ll admit that there are some aspects of fashion that are straight-up ridic.

Two Makeup Tips for the Financially-Challenged (Thank You Veva)

June 8, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

If you’re a makeup nerd like me, you’re always looking for something new to try out. However, if like me, you’re also on a tight budget, you’ve realized it’s hard to find affordable products that offer really dramatic results (if you’ve followed this blog at all you know that I don’t even know the meaning of subtlety when it comes to makeup).

I have to thank Veronica Varlow for sharing the beauty of false eyelashes and sparkle lipstick during her latest webinar. Both of which make a huge statement and can be done quite affordably.

And by “affordably” I mean that if you can’t find a simple pair between $2-5 then you’re looking in the wrong place. I actually purchased these false lashes and the adhesive at a Dollar General (man, should I have admitted that?) and they stayed put all day.

And the recipe for sparkle lips? Just a good, tacky lip gloss and sparkles. Veva recommended a particular brand, but I just dabbed pink craft glitter onto Maybelline Colorstay lipgloss, and it performed perfectly. Just make sure not to get really big chunks of glitter (unless, of course, you want to look like a clown).

So there you have it…craft glitter and dollar store eyelashes.

Rules? I know nothing of the sort.

Blue isn’t exactly the most becoming color for dark-skinned women, and I kind of new that from the start. But yknow what? I still had to try it out for myself…
