Who’s a pantyho? You’s a Pantyho.

Black Milk Clothing absolutely reigns supreme in the realm of leggings and nylon. I first raved about them when I discovered their skeleton tights, and I’ve been lovin’ on their unique designs ever since.

New Haircut and Making Peace with Mullet Mishaps

November 18, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

So I just got my haircut, something I used to do without a second thought until the infamous MULLET incident. After that, I had to cut my hair immensely short and I then promised to never get a haircut again for as long as I lived. But promises are meant to be broken (isn’t that how it goes?) so I went ahead and decided on a change, albeit, a sort of subtle one.

Model of the Week: Miss Cobweb

Check out Miss Cobweb, a 23-year-old model from England. This lovely lady is a  hairdresser, makeup artist, as well as a new mom as of this year.

Punk Rock + Barbie + Cats? Fair Enough.

August 16, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

Audrey Kitching just released a new mini line for Coco De Coeur called “Role Models”. There’s a definite punk rock influence in all of Kitching’s designs for this label (which I love), along with pink Barbie sugary-sweetness, and now…cats.

There are aspects of this label I don’t exactly love. It seems I still retain enough teenage subcultural pretentiousness to feel iffy about anything that makes punk seem cutesy. (more…)

Sober and Sexy Scene Queens?

July 18, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

I apologize. I’m taking a week off from Model of the Week postings. I didn’t have the time to find someone who really struck me this week, and I didn’t want to post just for the sake of posting.

Anyhow, what I did come across this week is Sober is Sexy, a clothing company that was founded last year by a three-part crew that includes former scene queen, Hanna Beth. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, Hanna Beth became known for dating the lead singer of Metro Station, and galavanting around with Audrey Kitching when they were both in their sickeningly sweet scenester phases.

The whole reason the brand caught my eye attention is because every time I see a girl whose occupation is initially summed up as “scene queen” I’m greatly interested to see what the heck they plan to do next. Well, apparently one of the things she chose to do was start an anti-drug crusade, in the form of cheeky T-shirts. And I guess that’s cool. (more…)

It’s Like the Wonka Factory, but for Rainbow Scene Chicks

When I stumbled upon It’s Sugar, a new store that just opened in Baltimore, Maryland, I wasn’t really sure what it was. And even after stepping foot inside, to tell you the truth, I still wasn’t exactly sure.

The store is 1/3 reasonable candy store, 1/3 totally unreasonable diabetes-inducing candy porn, and 1/3 ridiculous fashion playground. So of course, I fell in love.

Time to Find Out Where All The Real Cool Kids Have Been Hiding…

June 15, 2011 Posted by fashionvandals

I just found out about an awesome project via La Carmina’s blog, and I felt the need to pass the word along. Photographer Danielle Levitt is currently scouring the country for alt-kids (goths, punks, scenesters, jrockers, etc) to photograph and interview for a project focusing on youth subcultures.

Any young people on the fringe of the mainstream can be considered for the project, no matter where your location. So if this sounds at all like something you might want to be a part of–celebrating your subculture and personal style–be sure to check out all of the details here. Danielle’s work is great, and I’m actually really excited about this.
